Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

"The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children. It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori. Children gather in an "atrium," a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials that they use."

Although they use the principles of Maria Montessori in the training, it is based on the long time observations of Dr. Sophia Caveletti and Gianna Gobi who presented children age appropriate material.

It is a wonderful program and for those children who are fortunate to go through it, they seem to have a life long appreciation for the Good Shepherd.

It takes a "call" as the training is intense--4 weeks per each level and there are 3 levels. The atrium environment is beautiful, but somewhat expensive to set up.

It allows children to understand and incorporate the liturgy as well as the Bible.
