This is a First Communion series, titled "Celebrating Holy Communion" to provide opportunity for all children to receive teaching on this important sacrament even if they have already been coming forward to receive communion. It is a workbook designed for parents to work through with their children. Additionaly, we offer three classes here in the parish: Parents only attend the first class, where they are given the materials (this booklet, a book written by John McArthur titled, I Believe in Jesus, and a prayer book) and a teaching on the importance and the honor bestowed on them to teach their children to know their heavenly Father. Halfway through the series, parents and children come to the church for a teaching on salvation and when they've completed the workbook, they attend the second teaching/rehearsal on receiving communion. In our parish this series is offered during Lent and the children celebrate their First Communion on Maundy Thursday.
